ADA Asphalt Ramp in the Street Improperly Installed
It is not permissible to put pieces of ramp either in the driveway or in the street to make up elevation changes. A simpler and permissible solution would be to lower the walk to the street elevation where the "sidewalk closed" sign is. Then the walks coming from both sides of the corner walks would ramp down to the elevation of the lowered section of walk. sometimes designers think that the solution shown is needed because it allows those traversing the ramp to avoid stepping in the water residing in the gutter. There is no exception in the ADA to provide for water issues. It is up to the designer to satisfy the civil drainage requirements and the ADA.
